How to Get More Sales (Without Hustling Harder or Feeling Pushy)

If you’re a woman in business who has hit a plateau, chances are you’ve been told to:

  • Post more

  • Show up more

  • Be more visible

  • Create more content

  • It is all about the numbers and getting in front of more people.

It is so frustrating to see women try and do more.
We are already doing enough.

Instead, we need to focus on wihat will actual get us more sales.

More marketing does not fix a sales problem.

In my 20+ years working in sales across multiple industries from real estate to law firms to health and service-based businesses, I’ve seen this pattern over and over again.

Businesses invest thousands into branding, websites, and social media… but they aren't looking at how they need to convert their assets and activity into sales.

This is the gap I see in so many businesses. If you want to get more sales, you don’t need more noise. You need a better way for people to move from interested to ready to buy.

1. Stop Focusing on More Leads — Focus on Better Conversion

Have you ever thought “I just need more leads.”?

It can seem like you just need more leads but what I suspect from working with so many businesses over the years is you already have people:

  • Watching your content

  • Engaging with your posts

  • Clicking your links

  • Making enquiries

You may even have a database full of names, emails and details.

But they’re not buying.

That’s not a lead problem.

That’s a conversion problem.

Before you go and spend more time on marketing, lead generation or paying money for more enquiries I want you to stop and actually ask yourself:

  • Do people know exactly what you offer and can they see your value?

  • Do they understand the outcome?

  • Do they know what to do next?

  • Are they clear on why they would work with you over any other person or business in your industry?

If you answered no to any of these, marketing is not your answer.

More sales come from converting what you already have.
Stop hunting for more leads and nurture the ones you already have.

2. Get Clear on What You Actually Sell (Hint: It’s Not Your Service)

People don’t buy:

  • Coaching

  • Styling

  • Legal services

  • Marketing

They buy:

  • Solutions
  • Confidence

  • Clarity

  • Relief

  • Growth

  • Time back

  • A better future

This is where most businesses get stuck. They talk about what they do instead of what people get. As humans we buy the solution, not the offer.

There is a huge difference in:

“I offer 1:1 coaching sessions”

“I help you turn inconsistent sales into predictable income so you can stop second-guessing every month."

Show them how we can help them and the solution.
That shift alone shows them why they would work with you.

3. Build a Sales Process (So You're Not Relying on Hope)

If your current strategy is to post content and hope people enquire, that is not actually a strategy. It says to me that you don’t have a sales process.
A sales process is a step by step plan on how you take an enquiries through to becoming a paying client.
It is not a funnel, a series of emails or the technical way people engage with your business.

It is how you show your ideal clients that you understand them, know what their challenges are, what it is that they want and then how your products or services can help them. People don’t just “decide” to buy. They are constantly making micro-decisions about whether you can are the best person to solve their challenges.

The amount of times I have heard "If they want to buy it, they will." The human brain is a complicated machine. Sometimes we need help making decisions and your job is to help them make that decision, easily and effortlessly.
Make things so clear for your ideal clients that they will know whether it's a yes or a no.

If you don't have a sales process within your business, that is repeatable, scaleable and clear, there is no point in doing more marketing as you have holes in your sales bucket.

4. Remove Friction From the Buying Decision

Sales don’t stall because people aren’t interested. They stall because something feels unclear, risky or overall just too hard.

The common friction points I see in businesses are:

  • Pricing is vague

  • The process isn’t explained

  • Outcomes feel uncertain

  • Next steps aren’t obvious

  • They can't see the value in what they are buying.

When people have to “figure it out themselves"

They don’t. They leave. Or they will say they will come back to it, and then life gets busy.

More sales come from making it easier to say yes.
Make it easy for people to buy from you. That goes across any sales pages, websites, cart checkout pages (do you know how many people hit your checkout page and don't buy?) all the way through to people paying you.

An extra tip to removing the friction is do not have too many options or offers.
My recommendation is 2-3 options.
Simple and clear is better than more and overwhelm.

5. Align Your Sales Strategy With Who You Are

This is a big one. I know sales for a lot of people isn't their favourite thing to do. They worry that people won't like them, they aren't good enough or that people will think they are too expensive.

When you put together your sales strategy, it needs to align with you, your brand and your business.

If your sales approach feels:

  • Pushy

  • Forced

  • Scripted

  • Inauthentic

  • Complicated
  • Overwhelming
  • Unclear

You will avoid it.

And if you avoid it…
You don’t make sales.

The goal isn’t to become someone else.

The goal is to build a sales process that works with you. For most women in busines that I work with it is about it being:

  • Relationship-driven

  • Conversation-led

  • Clear and structured

  • Confident but not aggressive

Because when sales feel good…You actually do them. You may also end up doing happy dances if you are anything like my clients.
You realise that sales is just a conversation and is about helping more people. Simple.

When selling feels good, you want to do more of it. When you do more of it, something amazing happens...

Your revenue grows.

6. Learn Sales Like You Learn To Drive A Car

Do you remember the first time you got behind the wheel of a car?
I do! I was nervous, overwhelmed, extremely uncomfortable and thought we were all going to die!

Over 20yrs later, driving feels normal and has become so easy that I don't even consciously have to think about.

Imagine if you could have that same feeling when it came to sales in your business.
It became normal and comfortable. You knew what you were doing, how to do it and became a part of your everyday business activities without the pressure.

Most of the time, businesses don't invest in learning how to sell.
At some stage, someone taught you how to drive (thanks to my brother's best mate who taught me!) but who has taught you how to sell in your business?

I have done many programs and workshops over the years of being in business and one key gap I see is that noone is showing business owners how to sell.
They will show you marketing, websites, branding, money management, software... Everything but sales!

Have you actually learnt to sell and make more sales?
Maybe you have spent time on your marketing and all the other things in your business, yet sales is the one thing that directly impacts your income.

Sales is not something you’re “naturally good at” or not.

It’s a skill. One that can be learned, refined, and mastered.
Kind of like driving a car.

And when you do learn how to sell and make more sale?

Everything in your business becomes easier.
That's why I think sales is so sexy!

So my final thoughts to you is that 99% of the time sales is the missing link within a business.

If your business has plateaued, isn't making enough money or has doesn't have enough clients it’s not because you’re not working hard enough.t’s because there’s a gap between your lead generation and conversion.

Close that gap…

And you don’t just get more sales.

You create:

  • Consistent income

  • Predictable growth

  • A business that actually supports your life
