Sales Help for Women in Business: What to Do When Your Revenue Has Plateaued
Many women in business invest thousands of dollars into marketing, branding, logos and websites.
They refresh their brand.
They launch a new website.
They invest in social media marketing.
But here is the question I often ask my clients:
How much are you investing in getting sales help?
Because no matter how beautiful your brand is or how good your marketing looks, if your sales process is unclear, inconsistent or uncomfortable, your revenue will eventually plateau.
In my 17+ years working in sales training and strategy across industries including real estate, motor vehicles, marketing agencies, law firms, childcare and health and wellbeing, I have seen one thing repeatedly.
Businesses try to force themselves into cookie-cutter sales systems that simply don’t fit their business.
If you are a woman in business who feels stuck or like your sales have slowed down, here are my top three pieces of advice when looking for sales help.
1. Work With Someone Who Has Broad Sales Experience
One of the biggest mistakes I see is businesses trying to plug themselves into a rigid, one-size-fits-all sales method.
Sales does not work like that.
Every industry sells differently.
Every audience buys differently.
And every business needs a sales approach that aligns with how they actually operate.
After decades working with businesses across multiple industries, I can confidently say this:
The best sales strategies are tailored - not templated.
When you are looking for sales help, find someone who has experience across multiple industries and understands the different ways businesses sell. They should be able to adapt strategies to your business rather than forcing your business to adapt to their framework.
Your sales process should feel natural for you, your team and your clients.
2. Make Sure the Sales Strategy Aligns With Your Values
Not all sales advice is good advice.
And unfortunately, many women in business have been taught sales strategies that feel pushy, high pressure or completely out of alignment with how they want to run their business.
I remember working with a client whose sales had stalled even though she had been working with a business coach.
When we looked deeper into her sales strategy, it became clear why things weren’t working.
She had been advised to offer a “$1000 voucher” to potential clients that could be redeemed against her services. The problem?
The voucher was offered to everyone — meaning nobody ever paid the real price.
To me, this is a slimy sales tactic.
If a client realises the voucher was never truly a limited offer, what does that do to the brand?
Does it create trust, authenticity and care?
Or does it leave people feeling manipulated?
Sales strategies that rely on pressure or deception might produce short-term results, but they damage your brand and reputation long-term.
When you are seeking sales help, make sure the approach aligns with your values, integrity and the experience you want your clients to have.
You should feel proud of how you sell.
3. Choose Someone Who Understands Changing Buyer Behaviour
Sales is not static.
What worked five years ago will not necessarily work today.
Consumer behaviour changes.
The economy changes.
Buying decisions change.
Yet many businesses are still being taught outdated sales tactics that no longer reflect how people actually buy.
Right now, many businesses are saying:
"Customers just aren’t spending like they used to."
But the data tells a different story.
Research from Roy Morgan shows that Australian shoppers spent 7.1% more in 2025 than they did in 2024.
People are still spending money.
They are simply being more intentional about where they spend it.
This means businesses need to be clearer about:
-
The value they provide
-
The problem they solve
-
Why they are the right choice for their clients
Sales today is about clarity, connection and confidence - not pressure.
Should Every Woman in Business Get Sales Help?
Absolutely.
Sales is the engine of every business. Without it, marketing becomes expensive and growth becomes unpredictable.
But do I believe everyone offering sales advice is the right fit?
No.
The right sales support should feel:
-
Real
-
Authentic
- Connected
-
Strategic
-
Tailored to your business
Look for someone who genuinely cares about your results, understands your business and can help you build a sales strategy, process and training that works for you, your team and your clients.
Because when your sales process works, everything else in your business becomes easier.
And that is where real business growth happens.
